Sleep, Concerts, Surgeries, and More Sleep

In my attempt to find homes for the kitties, I visited my blog for the first time in weeks. I realized that I last blogged the week I found out I was pregnant. No wonder it's been a while. Even after four other pregnancies, I'm still amazed at how exhausting it is to have a baby growing inside you. Finding time to blog has become very low on the list of priorities and sleeping very high. That said, we are thrilled that we will share this Christmas with a new baby!

Thanks to all of you who came to our benefit concert to help raise money for a school in Zambia. The concert also took much of my time since I last blogged. A few months ago, a running friend shared a dream she had the previous night about a benefit concert for Africa. It sounded like a dream that needed to become reality so we started spreading the word that we were going to hold a benefit concert. All the money would go to help build the school and provide materials for the school Heather will be teaching at next year. Granted, Heather and I knew nothing about holding concerts to raise money, but we had a will and knew some very talented people who were willing to perform. The stress of putting it all together was well worth it. The concert was fabulous and we were able to raise over $2,000, half of which was given during intermission from the change people had in their pockets. It was great to be involved in such a worthy cause. Maybe we'll try it again next year.

Abbie wanted to perform in the concert so we arranged "Ordinary Miracles" with Steph and added the violin. Abbie figured out half of the violin part all on her own. I was nervous to have her perform for a big group but she did awesome!

A week after the concert my dad had his hip surgery. We were worried because of the risk of a heart attack and weren't sure how his recovery would be. What a blessing that he made it through the surgery just fine and is recovering much quicker than we had expected! We were able to have him stay with us for a few days. It was fun having Grandpa around! I was grateful for the excuse to spend my evenings playing games and watching American Idol-which he loved. Of course, he won't admit it. Helping him after his surgery was the least we could do. Every day I have been enjoying the benefits of his work around my home. He has such a talent with flowers and is willing to share it with me.

This is what I see when I drive up to the house,
when I walk into my house,
and when I look out my kitchen window. Thanks Dad!
I have loved the spring flowers. They make me happy! I was especially grateful for a few days of perfect weather and to Rick who spent many Saturdays pruning all eight fruit trees. It made the backyard look wonderful and makes me excited for lots of yummy fruit.

And here are a few Easter pictures. Enjoy!

Maia is sitting on my lap enjoying your blog. She says to tell you the pictures are really cute! I love Ab's Jackie-O suit. Very stylish!

You look great, too. I think this is a boy. The last two pregnancies you were green at the beginning. Either way, the world can always use another Bruno!
